The CFPSL was established in year 2000 with 19 founder members. Today with more than 55 life members and 25 associate members it has become a strong professional body in the medical and non-medical professional community in the country.
Main objective of the college is to achieve and maintain higher standards in medico legal service provide to the society throughout the country by promoting co-operation, coordination and fellowship among the disciplines associated with the specialty and by furthering education, training and research in Forensic Medicine.
In the recent years Judicial Medical Officers enhanced their input and expertise not only in delivering the justice to the society by mere conducting medico legal examinations of living and conducting autopsies in dead and subsequently submitting reports and giving evidence in the courts, but in policy making and decision making levels in many spheres of medicine, law, policing and other relevant fields.
Child protection, law amendments, anti-human trafficking, protection of victims and witness of crimes, organ transplantation, Disaster Management, Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, Injury Presentation and Safety, Human Rights are a few to mention. To achieve this level of recognition of our profession was possible due to committed professional service of our members of forensic medicine fraternity in this country.
The College is eager to nurture close collaboration and co-ordination with other local as well as international colleges and associations. Future goals would be to hold clinical meetings ,seminars, symposia and workshops with the participation of local and international experts in Forensic Medicine and related fields.
